Your tour manager meets the group at Suvarnabhumi and transfers everyone to the hotel in the Pratunam or Sukhumvit area. In the evening you board a river cruise on the Chao Phraya, passing the floodlit Wat Arun and the Rama VIII bridge, with an Indian-style buffet dinner on board. Bags stay packed lightly — the Pattaya coach leaves on day 3.

A full day at Safari World on the northern edge of Bangkok. The morning is the drive-through safari park with giraffes, zebra and white tigers alongside the coach; the afternoon is the Marine Park with the dolphin, sea lion, orangutan and stunt shows running to a fixed timetable. Lunch is an international buffet inside the park.

Check out and take the two-hour coach south-east to Pattaya, with a stop at a gem gallery on the way. After lunch on your own and hotel check-in near Beach Road, the group goes to the Alcazar cabaret, a seventy-minute costume and dance revue in a 1,200-seat theatre. Walking Street is a ten-minute walk away but is adults only after dark.

Speedboat from Bali Hai pier to Koh Larn, forty minutes offshore, for a day on Tawaen beach. Sunbeds are included; parasailing, jet ski and the underwater sea walk are paid on the beach if you want them. A Thai and Indian buffet lunch is served at a beachfront restaurant before the boat back at four.

Back to Bangkok in the morning for the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, home of the Emerald Buddha, with a guide. Full-length trousers and covered shoulders are compulsory inside the palace grounds. From there straight to Don Mueang for the ninety-minute flight to Phuket and a transfer to Patong.

A full day at sea — Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, Viking Cave, Monkey Beach and a snorkelling halt at Bamboo Island, with buffet lunch on Phi Phi Don. The boat carries life jackets for all ages and a guide who stays in the water with the snorkellers. You are back at Patong by five.

A half-day run to the 45-metre Big Buddha on Nakkerd Hill, Wat Chalong and the Karon viewpoint over the three southern bays. The afternoon and evening are free — most of the group ends up at Jungceylon mall or on the beach, and the tour manager will point you to the Banzaan fresh market for a cheap, excellent last dinner.

Between 18 and 32 travellers, and we do not merge two departures to fill a coach. The tour manager flies with you from India and stays through to the return check-in at Phuket.
Every included lunch and dinner has an Indian vegetarian counter — Bangkok and Pattaya have plenty of Indian restaurants, and in Phuket the buffet lunch on Phi Phi carries dal, rice and two sabzis. Tell us at booking if you need Jain food and we will arrange it separately.
The road is over 800 km and takes twelve hours. Several cheaper circuits do it as an overnight coach, which costs you a night's sleep and a night's hotel. We fly it in ninety minutes and you get a full day in Phuket instead.
Shoulders and knees must be covered and the trousers must be full length — no shorts, no sleeveless tops, no torn jeans. Sarongs are rented at the gate but the queue is long, so wear the right clothes that morning.
